About Me

My photo
I’m a stay at home mother of two beautiful children, Zoey and Zane. I spend most of my days wiping butts and cleaning up…but what can I say I love every minute of it. I love the time I get to spend each day with my children thanks to God and my wonderful husband. This blog is about our daily happenings at the Blakley Ranch. Hope you enjoy!

Snow in Texas...

Last night when the weather forecast called for snow in our Texas hometown I was skeptical. I mean, our thermometers were reading in the seventies only two days ago. Boy was I surprised by the scene we had today.

We had a gorgeous snow shower. My daughter, Zoey, has been wishing for snow since Christmas. On Christmas Eve, she was devastated that we did not have snow. I tried to explain how unlikely the event is to occur here in Texas. So, today when she saw snowflakes through our front window she was ecstatic.

She came running to me with so much excitement on her face. It was so cute when she told me…"it’s finally Christmas!"

Zane was asleep when the snow started. So, Zoey and I bundled up and headed outdoors. The first thing she did was stick her tongue out and try to catch a snowflake.

Zoey and I had a snowball fight and enjoyed the cold while we waited for brother to wake up. Once Zane joined us we decided to build a “miniature” snowman…a big one is out of the question when you’re trying to keep up with a one year old in an open pasture.

I can honestly say this one picture sums up Zane’s snow experience...

He was so excited to put his coat and hat on and head outside. However, when the snow started hitting his face he was not sure about it…"COLD" was all he kept saying! To make matters worse he was bundled up like the Abominable Snowman. Baby boy has a hard enough time with balance…add snow and a monstrous jacket and you can only expect the worst.

It started when he decided to ride his sister’s bike. He managed to push himself into the LARGEST mud muddle in our driveway. There his shoe got stuck in the mud and left him with only a white sock on. So, he decides to get off the bike and attempts to get his shoe out of the mud…where he proceeds to fall face first into the snowy wet mud. Before I can get to him, he manages to get his self up and hobble to me in one muddy sock. In a matter of five minutes his snow experience was over and the crying began. Not because he was soaking wet, cold, or muddy but because I made him go inside. We will definitely be going back out tomorrow for round 2!

Something New...

I need to try something NEW!!! I am making a drastic decision. Ok, it’s not that drastic but for this girl it evokes a small amount of fear. What is it you ask? I’m going to start The Couch-to-5K Running Plan.

It’s a beginner’s running schedule that will have you running 3 miles in just two months. I’m not exactly a coach potato but I’m definitely not a runner. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ran since having my children. After taking a speed walking class in college I was hooked. Speed walking is my friend. I’m comfortable with speed walking…it brings me no anxiety. However, I need a change and I need to get out of my comfort zone. I can’t seem to maintain an exercise program…I think I’m bored. So, here goes nothing…running here I come. Please be kind to me… we have not been friends for awhile. I’m off to clean the house, wash clothes, and set my workout gear out. I want no excuse in the morning! Even though I’m a little anxious I know it will be fun to challenge myself. If you interested in this program check out this link

If you have tried this program or know of any other great workout routines let me know!

You Could Be a Winner Too...

I’m not the lucky type. So, when I win something I’m always so excited! A few weeks ago, my friend Shauna Maness revamped her photography blog. I was up late one night and noticed the new changes. Her blog looks great and I left her a comment expressing how much I liked it. To my surprise, Shauna sent me a gift for being the first person to leave a comment on her new blog! Are these babies cute or what…a set of postcards and personalized initial tags. I love them!!!

She also posted me as a guest reader. Shauna does amazing work and offers some great photography classes! So go to her blog and check it out...http://www.shaunamaness.com/blog/. You won't be sorry!!!

Did I mention you can be a winner too…each week Shauna will select a comment on her blog at random, and the winner will get to pick a set of {art}cards or initials.
