About Me

My photo
I’m a stay at home mother of two beautiful children, Zoey and Zane. I spend most of my days wiping butts and cleaning up…but what can I say I love every minute of it. I love the time I get to spend each day with my children thanks to God and my wonderful husband. This blog is about our daily happenings at the Blakley Ranch. Hope you enjoy!

One Smart Cookie...

I love to take pictures and one of my favorite subjects is my daughter, Zoey. However, she is not always as thrilled about the idea. Lately, I have noticed a similar pattern of events when I attempt to take her picture. It appears that she has a system when it comes to picture taking…she starts by covering her face or closing her eyes in an attempt to hide from the camera.

After I talk sternly to her and tell her that I am TRYING to take her picture… she pouts.

When all else fails I attempt to bribe her in order to get a good picture...and nine times out of ten it works.

What can I say, she has found a system that works for her…I can’t blame her for holding out for the bribe. She is one smart cookie that knows how to work her Mama.

Five Months...

As of February 15, 2009, Zane is five months old. This past month has flown by. At his last checkup he weighted 16 pounds 10 ounces and measured 27 ¼ inches long. He does not feel like a newborn anymore and I will miss those days. However, I know everyday brings a new memory and I treasure each one.

My favorite memory this month is finding where Zane is ticklish...right in the fat folds of his neck. It is so sweet listening to his little belly laugh...and the rougher you do it the more he laughs.

Zane is so much more interested in his surroundings. He now reaches for toys and chews on anything he can get his hands on.

His sister has learned to keep her distance as he loves to pull her hair…I guess baby boy is starting to take up for himself. I told sister this day would come.

I've Been Tagged...

I was tagged by my sister-in-law over at Lacie B. Mother of 3. Here are the rules...

1. Go to the fourth picture in your computer
2. Post the fourth picture
3. Explain the picture
4. Tag four more people

What a coincidence...this picture was taken by Lacie and has her little girl in it. Well... Emilie is not a little girl anymore as this picture was taken back in 2005. Lacie and her family always meet Joey and I at my grandmother's house to walk to the annual Madison County Rodeo. This picture was taken of Joey, Emilie, and I right before we got ready to leave.

I have to tag four people...so...here they are...

Sara, Hillary, Laney, and Brandy...have fun girls!!!

Cupid’s Arrow Hit…

That’s right…cupid’s arrow hit our house yesterday. We had a great Valentine’s Day. Zoey and I recieved candy, balloons, and flowers, pink of course as this is someone’s favorite color.

We made homemade cards for Dad.

Little Man even got a few gifts.

Let’s not forget the candy...

What was cupid thinking? Candy, Candy, Candy is all I’ve heard for the last two days. Between dance friends, grandparent’s, and family my child’s received enough sugar to energize a small elephant. Every time I turn around she has found another piece. Maybe by the end of next week the sugar high will subside.

I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day!!!

Like Father, Like Daughter…

My husband, Joey, works hard in order for me to stay home with our two children. Most of his week usually consist of twelve hour work days. Therefore, when he is home my daughter, Zoey, is glued to his side. She loves working outside with him taking care of the dogs, horses, and cattle. This week my husband has spent several days traveling to nearby towns to purchase cattle at the auctions. Zoey was not about to let him travel to the “moo-moo sale” without her in tow.

Zoey will turn three next month and I can officially say she is potty trained. It seems like we have been potty training for over a year. After spending a small fortune on gummy bears, stickers, and pull-ups we have accomplished our mission. However, out in public a recently potty-trained toddler puts a few kinks in your plans. Needless to say, Dad made several dozen trips to the bathroom with a little girl who maybe-sort-of-might-have-to-go or who really just wanted to explore the newest public bathroom. As you can guess the local auction barn has no clean and neat family restrooms for Dad and Zoey to visit. Therefore, Zoey had to join Dad in the men’s restroom. Joey and I both have a phobia about public restroom germs and cringe each time Zoey “announces” she needs to go the bathroom at the worst possible locations. However, Zoey and Joey made it back from the “moo-moo sale” and were proud to report that Zoey had no accidents. So you can imagine my surprise this morning when I walked into the bathroom to find a wet floor. I usually assist my daughter in the bathroom; however, on this particular day I was dealing with baby boy’s diaper needs. What can I say, I can only handle one bottom at a time. When I asked my daughter what happen she gave me a simple explanation. She was trying to use the bathroom like Daddy. Needless to say her experiment required a bath, change of clothes, and mopping duty. However, I could do nothing more than laugh. What can I say…a little girl can learn a lot at a “moo-moo sale”.
